China Medical University Visits to CUDC, Clare Hall and Strangeways Research Laboratory

Early this month, China UK Development Centre (CUDC) welcomed President Mr Deliang Wen of the China Medical University and his team of delegation to visit Clare Hall and the Strangeways Research Laboratory of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care the University of Cambridge. The aim of this visit was to explore collaboration opportunities in student education programmes and academic research.

China Medical University had a fruitful meeting with Professor David Ibbetson, the President of Clare Hall, Dr Marie Janson, the Development Director of Clare Hall and Mr Ian Strachan, the Bursar of Clare Hall. Sustainable working partnerships and implementation plans regarding visiting fellowship and short-term student education programmes were discussed. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed successfully between Clare Hall and China Medical University to formalise their collaboration.

During their visit in Cambridge, CUDC arranged the delegation to visit the renowned Strangeways Research Laboratory of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care in the University of Cambridge and met with Professor Rajiv Chowdhury, the Principal Researcher and Associate Professor in Global Health. Collaboration opportunities were discovered and discussed during the meeting. China Medical University expressed interested in working on related research projects with Strangeways Research Laboratory which would be further explored in the coming months.

Furthermore, the delegation of China Medical University was invited to lunch with Professor Nicky Clayton and Mr Clive Wilkins of the Department of Psychology of the University of Cambridge. The two parties had an enjoyable lunchtime together whiling sharing updates on their latest research projects and developments.
