CUDC’s proactive response to COVID-19 outbreak

Updated: Apr 23, 2023

Ever since the outbreak of coronavirus at the beginning of the year, CUDC have been actively monitoring the development and taking proactive steps to ensure the health and well-being of our valued China-UK partners, academics and students.

After prudent consideration, it was with our deepest regret to cancel all of our winter school programmes in late January and issue a full refund to students to avoid any potential risks that could jeopardize the safety of our partners, academics and students. For the groups that had already started their programme in the UK in early January, we had taken appropriate measures to cope with the potential infection including providing surgical masks and antibacterial gel; requiring students to wear surgical masks and use antibacterial gel at all times and monitoring students’ temperature twice a day.

As the Pandemic started to worsen in the UK, we have initiated a support plan to

1- Donate PPE supplies to medical workers, hospitals, etc.;

2- Support international visiting students and academics that are currently studying/working in the UK, by offering free PPE and consultation advice.

3- Donate PPE to partner universities/organisations in both the UK and China.

As of today, we have already arranged the delivery of over 10,000 facemasks and other PPE to more than 700 individuals or organisations.

As the epidemic escalated, our UK offices were ceased to be in use according to the government’s guidance. We have brought the medical supplies back home and completed the packing and delivery as soon as possible. Your safety and health are of the utmost importance.

We strongly believe that we will get through this difficult time soon and we look forward to welcoming our students back in the near future! If you have any difficulties during these unprecedented times, please contact us and we will try our best to solve any problems you may be facing.

Thank you for your continuous understanding and support.
